Realistic Portraits with This Course
You’re Not Crazy for Wanting More
You ever look at someone’s portrait
and feel that tug in your chest?
That ugh, ….I wish I could do that?
Yeah. Me too.
For a long time, I didn’t know how to get there.
I just knew I couldn’t stop trying
My mom was actually a portrait painter—she went to art school and became my biggest teacher growing up. I was surrounded by sketchbooks and the smell of oil paint before I even understood what 'talent' meant.
I got into the Art Institute of Chicago with a scholarship, but even with that, it was too expensive. So I went to a state school instead—studied film, minored in art, and kept painting late into the night.
I didn’t follow the traditional artist path. I built my own. And that’s exactly what I teach my students to do.
I was just too stubborn and obsessed and maybe a little crazy enough to think I could figure it out.
Most Artists Quit Here
Most artists plateau right here—in the valley between inspiration and ability.
They watch YouTube tutorials. They buy new brushes. They stare at blank canvases and wonder if maybe they just aren’t cut out for it.
Most artists don’t stop because they lack talent…
They stop because they never got
the map.
I Built the Map
When I first moved to LA, I took a temp job outside the film industry just so I could afford rent on our 400-square-foot converted garage apartment. I couldn't afford a studio—let alone dining out once in a while. So I made my apartment my art school.
Every evening, I turned my tiny space into a lab. I dissected paintings. I reverse engineered the brushwork of old masters. I zoomed in on Instagram screenshots to figure out what tools modern artists were using. I stared at palettes, hunting for the secrets no one was willing to teach.
I used tech the way other artists used tradition. I grew up working at my dad’s computer company, so I leaned into it. I hacked color theory. I built spreadsheets to understand mixing. I created tools to solve what others told me I just had to "feel."
I used tools "real" artists wouldn’t touch. Because I had no rules but my own.
We lived in that 400-square-foot apartment for seven years. It had a bed, a couple dressers, a kitchen island—and the rest was taken up by six- to seven-foot paintings and stacks of practice canvases.
Every extra dollar I made went to testing supplies. Every spare minute went to practicing. Not because I had time. But because when I obsess about a project, I see it through—until something clicks.
And guess what?
Years later...
it clicked.
I went from temp jobs and makeshift canvases to having my art featured in film and television.
I started getting sought out by influencers with tens of millions of followers. I was painting portraits for people I used to see on screens—and I was being asked to teach their kids.
Suddenly, I was teaching in private schools attended by celebrities. The same stubborn curiosity that led me to reverse-engineer masterworks became the foundation of my teaching philosophy.
I didn’t just teach painting. I taught by breaking down the impossible into something doable.
That’s how the method was born. That’s how I created the map.
I didn’t need more talent.
I needed a process.
Why This Course Was Born
The idea for Realistic Portraits for Beginners wasn’t born from technique. It started as a quiet, persistent thought: What if more people had access to this? I’d spent years teaching in private schools and tutoring students from some of the most well-connected families in LA. And while I was proud of what I was doing, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I had become part of a world that looked nothing like where I came from.
Then COVID hit.
Overnight, the classrooms closed. I wasn’t teaching in person anymore. For the first time in years, I had the space and clarity to finally build something new. That persistent thought became louder. And in that pause, I realized—it was time to act.
So I left my job.
I decided to take everything I had learned and build something that could reach more people - especially the ones who reminded me of myself. Artists without access. Artists with drive but no map.
That decision is what transformed not just my teaching - but my process.
How to Help the Most People?
…Expand Mediums
I’ve always been an oil painter. But to reach more people, I needed to reimagine how I painted. I spent months adapting my techniques to acrylic. I tested every material. I reverse-engineered every step so that it could be followed with tools that didn’t require a $300 supply list.
Oil Paint
Acrylic Paint
Because in the end, it’s not about the paint.
It’s about the approach.
I wouldn’t have transformed my oil painting process if it weren’t for this course.
So whether you work in oil or acrylic—this method will work for you.
Your choice. Same outcome.
The P9 Pathway
I call it the P9 Pathway. It’s my 9-step process to help you build portraits layer by layer—with clarity, confidence, and without the usual chaos.
It’s not just a formula. It’s a rhythm. A sense of knowing what comes next. A deep breath after years of guessing.
You won’t just paint faces. You’ll understand them.

Portraits You'll Be Painting
Student Artwork
They Didn’t Believe It Either
“I almost didn’t buy this because I thought it was too advanced.”
”I thought it was too simple! 😂”
“I thought I was too old to learn.”
“I cried when I finished my first portrait.”
“This isn’t just painting—it’s healing.”
“My husband thought I hired someone to do it.”
“Now I finally feel like an artist.”
These are real quotes from students who almost didn’t take the leap.
Now? Their work speaks for itself.
From Progress to Passion: What Students Are Saying
Why I Really Do This
I show my students’ work to my husband all the time. Sometimes, I’ll be like, “look at what she painted—she started with zero experience.”
And he’ll pause. He’ll look at it for a long time. And then he’ll say, “Can you believe this? All those years of hard work… and now you get to do this.”
It hits me every time. Because this isn’t just about painting.
It’s about helping someone change the trajectory of their life—when they finally believe they can do it. And then they do it.
I used to charge over $1,200/month for private students. But this course was designed to be accessible—because I know what it’s like to start with nothing but drive.
